Say('s) What?

Since it is a weekday, I was busy at work all day.  I got home and read messages about...what?....a Say's Phoebe near Blenheim?
After wolfing down some supper I made a beeline for Lagoon Road.  It takes me 45 minutes to get there from home on a good day, but traffic was heavy and of course I just happened to meet one of those CP (too long) trains at Grand and Prince Albert Roads.

I soon arrived on the scene and a bunch of familiar birders were looking for the bird.  They had seen it a few minutes previous, but after about ten minutes, the bird appeared in a tomato field that was being harvested.

This bird was certainly a long time coming for me and was on my mind recently!  I do not usually chase long distance birds, but this one was fairly close to home, so I had to try.
Eventually the bird came closer, but still a bit distant for decent photos.

It has been a while since I have had a life bird, so this was nice to get.  A lifer for many today it appears.  It is new for the Rondeau Birding Area checklist.

Lagoon Road has had some decent flycatchers.  Back in the fall of 2002, A Tropical Kingbird spent some time at the very south end!

I was originally thinking of going on an evening boat ride since the weather was so nice (it is a weekday afterall!).  Those plans were quashed obviously, but well worth it.
