Monkeying Around--Sightings This Week

Late today I decided to check out Ridgetown S.T.P.  It has some fairly good habitat for shorebirds this year.  Last year was better, but since Blenheim is not too good this summer, it is the best place.
It was nice to see a Red-necked Phalarope in the south pond today!  They were very scarce in the spring migration and I did not see one this year.

There were several other shorebirds, but nothing unusual.

Lots of Sandhill Cranes have been showing up west of Wallaceburg as they usually do this time of year.  Most are seen along the Stewart Line west of hwy 40.  They like the cut wheat fields!  I think most of these come off Walpole Island and are best seen early morning.

A couple of days ago I went for a walk at McKeough CA north of here late in the day.  Just found the usual stuff!  Giant Swallowtails were plentiful this week and Common Ringlets are coming out again.
