Nothing new to report actually. I have been checking Stewart Wetland daily for shorebirds and others as the habitat is superb. The water level drops considerably every day due to the lack of rain and soaring temps. Today was the hottest day yet this summer. The wind just switched to the north as I am writing this and the temp dropped about 8 degrees in ten minutes!
Very few butterflies recently--probably too hot! Rondeau butterfly count tally changed a bit since some counters were lax in getting their data in!
Only a few species of shorebirds so far: mostly Killdeer, Least Sandpiper, both Yellowlegs and Solitary Sandpiper.
I noticed four Great Egrets in the marsh on the Walpole side this morning, so heron types are moving.
The only Northern Bobwhite of the day....
