Snowy Egret Arrives in Wallaceburg

Yesterday on the way home from work, I caught sight of a smallish white egret along Otter Creek which seemed curious.  As usual, someone was tailgating me, so I had to go ahead and turn around to go back and take another look.  Sure enough, it was a Snowy Egret!

It was at this exact same spot a Snowy Egret showed up last July.  Perhaps it is the same bird.
I took a look early this morning but did not see it, but could be around since some areas one cannot see everything.
Seems I do well with these in the area, as a couple have been at Stewart Wetland the last few years.

In the early morning, I went down to McGeachy Pond at Erieau to look around.  There was lots to see, but migrants are certainly thinning out.  Lots of breeding birds are around, including Red-eyed Vireos.

At one point, a large swan flew through.  It was a Trumpeter!  No doubt the same curious individual that I saw at Rondeau the other day.  Tim Arthur was the only other birder to see the swan at Rondeau as it passed through.

With the hot weather, birding is slow and certainly uncomfortable.  Our weather certainly goes from one extreme to the next anymore!  Migration is winding down, but there will still be some birds to see, and no doubt some rarities.
It will be time to look for leps and odes for a change now that it finally warm.

As you often say "just have to be in the right
spot , at the right time ! "
