The White-winged Dove is still hanging around its usual location along Lakeshore Road. How long will it stay?
A walk along south point trail at the end of Lakeshore revealed little of note, but it was nice sorting through the birds. Besides Yellow Warblers, I only found one Black-and-White Warbler. Usually by this time I have seen several other migrant warblers!
The next birding stop was Blenheim Lagoons. There was a good number of shorebirds to sort through, most of which were Lesser Yellowlegs and Semipalmated Sandpipers.
Along the laneway, I found at least a dozen Common Checkered-Skippers. This is the first time I have seen them this year!
Some Common Sooty-wings were also present. It has been two years since I have seen one! I also saw one at Port Lambton this afternoon.
And of course there were several Bronze Coppers. Worn though!

ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out the Common Checkered Skippers....I haven't seen them this year and only got a brief, poor shot of one last year. I had a Common Sooty-wing in my yard last week....first one for my yard list!
Might be an influx of checkered skippers right now. I just had one at Peers Wetland this afternoon. First record for there!
DeleteCommon checkered skippers are really abundant in Windsor this year. I have seen them in my yard. I had a common sootywing nectaring from a flowerpot in my driveway. Both are great to find!
