Blenheim Lagoons Report

I headed down to Blenheim after work today.  Quite a difference from Sunday!  The sprinkler cell is virtually dry and in fact it was ploughed today.
Pond one has lower water and it looks like this is the pond they are actually draining. It is the same one they worked on a few years ago.  Since it is right by the birder's gate, it will be interesting to see if we get access at all on weekends after Labour Day.

A number of shorebirds were around the edge of pond 1.  Nothing of note.  However, we are up to 4 Wilson's and 2 Red-necked Phalaropes swimming in that pond.  They stick together, so not difficult to locate.

Quite a few mallards, or mallard-like ducks were in pond 3.  Looked like a couple of the Lighthouse Cove ducks were there!  One was all white.
Lots of yellowlegs were flying around.

The only grebe was Pied-billed.  It would be nice for an Eared Grebe to show.  One was at Strathroy a couple of days ago.
