Wings of Spring

Daldean at Marine City

It has been an uneventful week, but spring birds have been arriving.  Killdeer, American Robins, and lots of blackbirds.  Today, the blackbirds arrived in big numbers, as they were all over the place.
Many ducks and geese to look at on the St. Clair River.  I checked later today and did not find any of the White-fronted geese.  They were around until at least Monday in the Fawn Island area.

It has been fairly cool until now, so there is still some snow and lots of ice.

Rondeau Bay should be opening up and I will check it out tomorrow.  Rondeau Park has the Wings of Spring event this week during March Break.  It is hit and miss every year, as some years there may be lots of open water and lots of waterfowl.  Other years it may be frozen and little waterfowl. This year it may be something in between.
Maybe a Mew Gull is around......

I look forward to this time of year as things thaw out and birds arrive, and I am able to go for long walks.
