Common Checkered-skipper at Blenheim S. L.
Siskins were still numerous though. They are at feeders now, including my own.
I met up with Steve Charbonneau and we walked out south beach. With these strong south winds lately, more erosion and fallen trees are evident. One would think with the very low water there would not be so much!
A couple of Tufted Titmouse seemed to be on the move along the shoreline.
Talkative Titmouse
It was a decent hawk day with lots of TV's ( I had over 200 at the lagoons in one bunch!). We spotted our first Red-shouldered for the fall. A nice adult.
We also spotted a very pale Red-tailed Hawk (twice on south point), then again at the north end of the park. Sort of caught our eyes.
The lake was rather quiet today. (again!). Lots of ducks and grebes on the Bay though. Speaking of grebes I saw about 100 Horned off the east side of Rondeau today. No bigger ones though. That elusive Western Grebe is still not on the Rondeau list.
Back on the Bay, there was a lot to look at off the Rondeau dock. This latish Forster's Tern was nearby.
With all the mud, one would think a few shorebirds could be around. I only saw one Greater Yellowlegs.
The 7 Great Egrets were still at the head of the Bay.
Blenheim Lagoons has had a lot of Ruddy Ducks lately. Only about 400 today though.
Fiery Skipper at Blenheim S. L.
This is the only crane I saw today....
