Lake Muskoka Whirlwind Trip

Just a quick blog saying that I just came back from one of my favourite spots in Ontario.  I spent a couple days on Lake Muskoka, staying on Browning Island.  A dear friend of ours has property on the island and she invited me to stay.  I was to go last week for longer, but due to various circumstances, I could only make a brief trip this week.
It is a long story how we got to know Shirley McIntyre, but the short of it is that she owns an antique mahogany boat that was made here in Wallaceburg in 1940.  It was bought new by her father and used as a shuttle to the cottage on the island.

Shirley is also interested in nature, so she could tell me a lot about the area as she has been there all her life.
It is a whole different way of life there, as many people come to spend their summers at their cottages.  My friend even told me about another island resident who is interested in birds and is from Hamilton.  Turns out this resident, Linda Hughes, knows Bob Curry and Glenda Slessor, who have stayed at her cottage!  I briefly talked to her on the telephone.

More tomorrow when I have time....
