Back to the Grind
Today was the last day of my month+ off from work, so I just checked out Rondeau and Blenheim. I thought with the north wind, warblers would have been plentiful. I was disappointed. There were a few, but not many. Saw some new ones for the fall. There was a Brewster's that initially had me thinking Blue-winged. It was very much like a Blue-winged, but no. I lost it to sight, then a few minutes later I found a Blue-winged!
An Olive-sided Flycatcher was calling as I started walking south point trail. I always like to hear that neat call. "Quick-three-beers"--something we could have used in last week's heat.
Too cool and damp for butterflies today. Lots of moths though.
At Blenheim Lagoons, many shorebirds left ahead of the north wind it seems. A few were still there including one Wilson's Phalarope that kept disappearing. A few dowitchers, Stilt Sandpipers, etc. The local Peregrine kept spooking the shorebirds.
I checked Erieau, but still could not locate any Buff-breasted Sandpipers!

Blake, I saw Common Nighthawks circling in the sky tonight over the Ojibway prarie. Thanks for the 'heads up'.
