Weather was a little better today. I managed to get a good two hour walk down at Rondeau. I saw my first meadowlark of the season flying across near the interesection of Kent Bridge Rd. and Talbot Trail.
Song Sparrows were the most widespread bird it seems.
I did come across a Fox Sparrow on South Point Trail. It is the first one I have seen since late December. There were none in the park all winter or anywhere else nearby for that matter.
A good-sized flock of Tree Sparrows was in the campground. Among them was a single Field Sparrow and of course several Song Sparrows.
I looked at lots of ducks on the Bay, but nothing unusual from my vantage point. Next weekend there will be even more!
Yet again, the skies were gloomy so good photography was not possible. The sun will be out tomorrow no doubt!
Can you believe our luck?! It's beautiful all week and then the two weekend days we get to get out are rainy. Ah well, it's still nice to get out and see some of the first spring migrants come in.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. I can practically hear those sparrows as I write this. Lovely. Sorry about your weather- ours (Ohio) got cold again this weekend also. Ah.. but spring is near and the birds know it also.
ReplyDeleteSend up some birds from Ohio!
ReplyDeleteP.S. The sun is out today and it is getting warmer.
