Upriver Ducks-Monday

Yesterday I took a leisurely drive along the St. Clair River up to Sarnia. As this harsh winter is getting everyone weary, there was not much else to do.
At least it was clear and sunny, but it was so cold, steam was coming off any open water.

Later the steam cleared and allowed good viewing at the few open water spots.

I watched the ducks from the Sidney Smith dock at Sarnia, but they were 98% Long-tailed--several thousand.  These ducks tend to stick to themselves in large rafts for the most part rather than associate with mixed rafts of ducks.

There was good viewing along the shoreline at Courtright on my return, but nothing special.

Canvasback vs Redhead

Redpolls are increasing as expected.  Yesterday, at least four were at my feeder.

Three plus a goldfinch

  1. Blake, I'm a little jealous of the Redpolls. Send them down to Windsor! :-)

    1. I am sure there are some around your area, Dwayne. Maybe they will be increasing in numbers now.
