Things were a little more active on the lake with the wind this morning. Three Sanderlings were on the move in the shorebird category. Lots of bonies moving.
Perhaps more cuckoos were in as we saw or heard several of both species.
The Acadian Flycatcher appears to have completed the nest. We only see one bird. Has it mated already, or is it calling for a mate? It was calling constantly just like yesterday. I don't know enough about them!
I planned to do some afternoon birding in west Elgin. I made it as far as Port Stanley lagoons. There were lots of shorebirds, but nothing unusual. The rain finally hit and it hit hard. It looked like it would not stop, so I drove back to C-K through heavy downpour. The sun was out in C-K!
I stopped at Erieau for a while and noted 2 more Whimbrel. I am up to an impressive 5 birds now! Many gulls were around and I once again noted the Iceland Gull far out in a feeding frenzy.
The R/R track trail has lots of butterflies. Looks like many more Question Mark came in today as I saw lots everywhere on the move.
Eight-spotted Forester moth
McGeachy Pond had perhaps 75 Ruddy Turnstones and just as many Black-bellied Plover.
Not sure if you keep the records for Rondeau.
