I ventured down to Rondeau again and birded a different part of the park. This time I went out marsh trail. There was no shortage of birds, but most were White-throated Sparrows and Yellow-rumped Warblers. I saw all the common types of sparrows, but no uncommon ones. I always hope to see Sharp-tailed, but as usual I came up empty with those.
Orange-crowned Warblers were numerous. Jim Burk reported over 20 in another part of the park this day. Since I had lots yesterday as well, there certainly has been a big influx of them.
Eastern Phoebes were once again plentiful.
There are now thousands of ducks on the Bay. At one point I saw most get up and there were clouds of them.
Turkey Vultures are on the move too. I saw a group in the distance numbering close to 100.
I checked out Erieau as well. A walk along McGeachy Pond dyke produced a few birds and butterflies. A fresh Red Admiral, as shown above, was fluttering around. There seems to be an emergence of Admirals lately.
