Weekend Preamble

There is not much to report this week as we are at a slow time of the winter.  It was very cold all week so open water is has become less and less.  Ice more and more!

On the St. Clair River, open water continues along the shoreline in the Sombra area.  Open water is farther upstream.  The only noteworthy duck this week was a presumed Hooded X Common Goldeneye at Corunna.  It has been a while since I have seen one of those.  In the winters of 1994 and 1996, one was at Fawn Island I recall.
Some of the local Snowy Owls are still hanging out and finding food with no problem it seems.  I saw one earlier this week near Port Lambton with a large dinner!
This owl was just north of Wallaceburg this evening.

Perhaps some redpolls will be seen this weekend, but they have not really materialized to any degree yet in this area.
