Cornucopia of Birds

Headed down to Rondeau today to find lots of birds.  Mind you, there were hundreds upon hundreds of Yellow-rumped Warblers everywhere, but other things too.  I spent 5 hours on south point trail and the south beach!  After a while I met up with the Burk's and between us we had about 15 species of warblers.
Nothing outstanding, but perhaps the best were two Northern Waterthrushes.

I walked quite a ways out the beach.  Lots of Bonaparte's Gulls were around today for a change.  I spotted one adult Little Gull among them.  Little Gulls have been scarce this year and I cannot remember when I saw one last.  May?

Water levels have dropped tremendously in the last ten days, and mud is everywhere.  The marsh trail is now connected to the south beach!  I did not have the small lens to take proper photos today to show this.
Gulls were sitting on new mudflats.

Yellow-rumped Warblers were in bunches everywhere you went!

Several Blue-headed Vireos a couple of Red-eyed and one Philadelphia were seen today.  The Philly was quite yellow and bright.  Here is a Blue-headed...

More Hermit Thrushes in today and Swainson's and Gray-cheeked were around too.Several Peregrines were patrolling the area.  I watched one off east beach chase a small bird for some time.  I knew the small bird was doomed and sure enough the Peregrine caught it!
Lots 'o Lincoln's today

Pine Siskins were everywhere as well.  At Blenheim Lagoons there was a whole whack of them at the entrance!

No sign of that Red-necked Grebe that had been around since September 9.  It was difficult to find at times and it stayed a long time.  I last saw it Monday.
No mud or shorebirds at Blenheim, but mud is everywhere else!
Shorebirds were almost absent today, but some were out near the end of marsh trail.  A couple of Wilson's Snipe, Greater Yellowlegs and a flock of Black-bellied Plovers were seen.

Another Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Lots to look at off Shrewbury as well.  Pied-billed Grebes were all over the place.  Perhaps 100 in view!  I saw one Snow Goose among the Canadas.  Great Egrets off Raglan.
