Whimbrel in the Wind

A drastic change in the weather today!  These winds should stir things up bird-wise.
I got down to Rondeau and Erieau this morning.  There were several good-sized flocks of warblers/vireos in the park.  Nothing special though.  I did see one Mourning Warbler.
At Erieau's McGeachy Pond, a lone Whimbrel was on the island.  It did not stay long though.  Whimbrels are scarce in autumn migration and we usually see single birds.
Blenheim Lagoons had four or five Baird's Sandpipers plus some usual species.  It has been a banner year, it seems for Baird's Sandpipers.
Swallows were in big numbers today. Many at the lagoons, and many moving along the lakeshore.
I also noticed several Ruby-throated Hummingbirds passing by while at McGeachy Pond.
Too cool and windy for many butterflies today!
Nothing to photograph today.

Alf Rider indicates that the Yellow-headed Blackbird is still around Grand Bend S. L. moving with Starlings.
