Blenheim Lagoons: Buffies and Fieries

A bit of a lazy day today.  I went down to Blenheim mid afternoon in hopes of seeing Buff-breasted Sandpiper.  Turns out there were three!  They were difficult to see with the bright sun on the mud and in the heat haze.

At first I thought I saw two in the distance.  I moved around to get get closer and I only found one.  Suddenly there were three!  They were distant and between me and the sun, so no good for photograpy.
Several other species were present, but nothing unusual.

Not surprisingly, I found some Fiery Skippers along the laneway.  These fast flyers were difficult to photograph.
