Another Day at Point Pelee

Just could not resist going to Point Pelee again today.  It was a slower day than last time...just my luck.  Only three Little Yellows today!  Lots of Buckeye again--I did not keep track though.  One American Lady that was very fresh.

I checked out the Dukes' Skippers at the end of Shuster and found about a half dozen.  At one point three of them were duking it out (no pun intended!).

The supposed Dion Skipper I saw north of Wallaceburg the other day, in retrospect, is more likely a Dukes'!  Too dark for a Dion.  There are Dion there for sure though.

Other skippers included Silver-spotted and Dun.
Still lots of Snout around.  This one was bit shy...

I tried hard to find Juniper Hairstreak, but struck out.  Bob Yukich had a couple last Thursday though.

Interesting birds included a Tufted Titmouse (about 300m south of West Beach P.L. along the beach).  Obviously a post-breeding wanderer.  One Least Flycatcher along the trail.  Lots of Yellow Warblers and Gnatcatchers.
That strange mammal was still along the West Beach Trail....

  3. Hey Blake. Jeremy and I went out on Sunday and checked out the west side (see my blog) we had no Little Yellows! Couldn't believe it! Oh, and that mystery mammal is pretty darn scary!
