Down at Ojibway

For a change of scenery, I participated in the Ojibway Butterfly Count today down near Windsor.  I last did it in 2006 when our group had a fabulous count seeing 50 of the 51 species on the count.  This year our group managed 43 species. Duskywings were plentiful (35 Wild Indigo), but we think we had a Dreamy as well.

Little Glassy Wings were quite numerous.  We had 55, but probably under-counted.

We had several other common skippers plus a Southern Cloudywing.
Hairstreaks were in moderate numbers.  Edwards' topped the list where we had over 30 in one spot, which is also where there were a large number of American Copper.

Two Acadian Hairstreaks were nice finds, being new for the year.

A Common Buckeye and a Painted Lady were good finds at Malden Park.
Surprisingly, we had no Little Yellows or other uncommon immigrants.
